I'm a racer.  That means I like to be on the limit, operating at the maximum threshold.  I'm not good at doing things by halves.  Sometimes I appear deceptively relaxed.  I'm not really.  I don't just 'take a relaxing walk'.  I put on my walking shoes and climb a mountain as fast as I can, or my trainers and run by the river - and measure my time.  So I haven't responded well to the whole 'just take it easy and give your body rest' thing - and then when I do get to exercise, I have to do it 'gently'.

When I went to the Winter Leauge race at the Moneyscalp I had to take my camera.   I'm not good at being a spectator.  I have to be doing it.  I figure, if I'm there to take pictures - then at least I'm doing 'taking pictures'.

You've all seen the rider shots before - and probably on www.mtbrider.com as well.  There are always threads on there with loads of photos from budding photographers like me.  So this time I'm posting a few candids of our fine DH team.  Because you never really recognise them without their riding gear and helmets.  And these guys are celebs by now, so its important that we give them adequate media time to keep their egos large ;)

StevieD is always cool, always fresh, always pimpin.

The sun came out in the mountains.  At home it was grey and foggy  and freezing and I could neither see nor feelmy nose.  As soon as I hit the mountains the sun burst out and I started to over heat.   Beautiful day.

Stevo took his first podium this weekend.  Here he is as the times started to come through.

There's always a lot of work to getting a race organised and the organisers always appreciate a bit of help.  Here's our Karl doing his bit and taking the tape down on his way to collect his....

Descent world hoody.  A few prizes were given out from the guys at descent world.  Nice one.

A cracking day.  And even enjoyable as a spectator.  Its great to see more crowds coming down to the races - and it certainly makes you pedal a bit harder when you hear your name being yelled down the course.

Irrisistable sunset on the way home in Rostrevor.  I guess I'm turning into a sucker for that sort of thing.  Better get back on the bike so I can get back to being a racer ;)
