Officially this bike don't exist in the UK til March next year, but hey, we love Commencal, and they love us

This is the entry level "off the shelf" version of the full on Team Supreme DH, that the boys in the team will be riding. It might be "entry level", but it's still a hell of a lot of bike for the money. £2.5k gets you a race ready DH bike based around a frame costing £1.8k on it's own, that means you get forks, brakes, drivetrain, wheels and all the other bits, for £700! That's just Bonkers.

Well it's out there. Finally Team Real Cycles has gone official. Here is the press release we erm, released:

Over the past few years the downhill race scene in Ireland has gone from strength to strength. Race promoters are staging better organised races on better tracks than ever before, and more and more riders are turning up to race week in week out.

Pete, Steve Beetie and Stevie Davidson of Team Real Cycles
To help boost the sport to the next level Belfast based MTB specialists Real Cycles (www.realcycles.com) have launched a new fully supported DH team for the 07 season fielding riders in the Junior, Senior, Vets and Elite categories. The team has one simple aim for the coming 07 season: To win.

To help the riders achieve this Real Cycles has teamed up with one of the newest and hottest names in the DH scene: Commencal. So just like Commencals international star riders Cedric Gracia and Ann-Caroline Chausson Team Real Cycles riders will be piloting the awesome Commencal Supreme DH. The team has also been partnered by Halo wheels who will be keeping the boys in hoops for the season and Shimano who will be looking after the braking.

Says Real Cycles shop owner Steve Baskerville:

The support we've got from Commencal, Halo and Shimano has been immense. When we first thought of running a team in 07 we had a wishlist of sponsors, these three key brands were top of the list and to get all of them on board has been great. None of them needed any pursuading, a few phone calls and all three jumped at the chance to support the Irish scene and offered far more than we initially asked for.
The riders will be Steven Beetie in Elite, Pete McDonagh in Seniors, Stevie "old git" Davidson in Vets and Dublin based Karl O'Sullivan in Juniors. Riders will be at all of the Irish races, as well as several of the English and Scottish event. Steve Beetie and Steve Davidson will also be racing in some of the European races. In Ireland the team will be supported by Real Cycles with Commencal looking after the boys when abroad.

View Article  Manic. Totally manic. But we made it.
It was absolutely flat out in the Real Cycles workshop today.  Between getting the Commencal fleet ready for transportation to the show, keeping up to date with repairs and getting new bikes out before the weekend while waiting for remaining wheels to arrive for the DH team bikes, there was hardly time for coffee (well, there was, but there was hardly time...).

We had resigned ourselves to accepting that the wheels weren't going to make it and semi didn't expect the Real Cycles team DH bikes to be ready for the show.  But, mid repair/lunch/mail order enquiry/poo,  five large boxes arrived with a knock at the back door.  I still didnt' expect the required rear wheels to be there, because frankly, its been that sort of week.  Thankfully they were, but it was bittersweet....my workload for the afternoon just doubled!  I thought you said this was going to be a relaxing day, Steve....

Anyway, we made it to the show and I can confirm the following:  The Real Cycles DH team bikes are there.  The Commencal replica DH teamMeta 5 team and Absolut 4x team bikes are there.  The full Commencal range are on display for you you test ride.  Roam is playing on the flatscreen.  And the beer is in the fridge.

See ya tomorrow!
